We’ve had a super busy start to the year including helping to break a World Record!
We were delighted to be asked by London’s most influential graffiti artists at Graffiti Life to cut the stencils for the Sony Pictures ‘Chappie’ movie stunt. They wanted to do something big to mark the release of the film, and big it was – they ended up breaking the record for Europe’s largest piece of shareable art!
A huge 60 by 10 foot wall was assembled with 600 square canvases ready to be painted in East London. Graffiti Life designed a mural using exciting iconic imagery from the movie, which included the Chappie character made from 250 stencils and filled with urban art.
The painting took place with 12 hand-picked YouTube bloggers helping to create the artwork at a special event. These bloggers had a combined video view count of over one billion!
The event was live-streamed on the Twitch website, where viewers could tune in and see graffiti artists creating in real time. Watch the time lapse video of the event below.
Once the artwork was complete the canvas wall was broken down into 600 unique pieces of artwork which were then shared amongst their fans and followers.
Chappie starring Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel and Sigourney Weaver is out in cinemas nationwide from March 6th.
